… for the performer in everyone.

Everyone’s A Star Records is here to support the musician, performer and recording artist that you feel you are, deep down in your bones.

Our first initiative is a new music podcast, The Music Circle – Hits and Hooks, broadcast on the Spotify platform. In 20+ episodes of Hits and Hooks, our host and Star Studio director, TuneMoose Matt Bates builds your vocabulary of music with a mix of commentary and great songs, songs played in their entirety. The show is both an entertaining playlist, and a source of insight into what it is, in songs, that engages us. Or, why do we like the songs that we like?

A second podcast series will be streaming soon, this time featuring Indie artists… maybe one of your records? Send me a copy.

What I discuss in the podcasts, of course, directly translates to what it is you should put in your songs, records and performances to engage your audience.

Keep your nose to the ground, and your ear to the rail.

21) Shake It Up – Pedal Tones, Blues, Folk, Science of Music, Reverb

In today’s show I’ll point out pedal tones in a couple of piano based songs. We’ll dig into Fabric, Form and Functions quite a bit. I’ll be featuring some Blues genre, and Folk genre music. I’ll start in on a new feature I’m launching today, the science of music, with today’s notes on the perception of pitch, and the structure of a sound. I’ll also be looking at a much used studio effect, reverb. And, continuing with my spotlights on Indie artists, we’ll hear a song by Ernie G.

With every new show we add to our vocabulary of hooks. Hooks, those catchy little things that engage us to keep listening to a song. Here’s what we have so far.

To go along with the shows we have posted several in-depth looks at a song from the show, as well as a file of inspiration for developing your own composition and performance skills, mined from the week’s playlist. Here are the last 10 supplementary file sets.
